If you are wondering where my Old Port harbour scene painting disappeared to, I had to temporarily take it off-line after submitting it to the RBC Canadian Painting Competition. I’m not really surprised or disappointed that my paintings didn’t get selected. [...] 
I worked on the depanneur sign today where I thought of adding some touches of orange to it, but I didn’t, afraid that the use of this complementary colour might come-off too bold. At this point I can tell the painting is almost done. There are still a few things that I want to work on. I notice that my brush strokes are getting bolder, loaded with thick paint over time. I like where this is going. [...] 
My painting featuring a young man poster pasting ads on a billboard is coming along nicely. I have had to extend my palette adding Carmin Red and Permanent Red to achieve certain colours, mainly those very bright almost fluorescent orange and pinks, that I wouldn’t have been able to with my regular palette [...] 
I have been busy with quite a few things lately and I feel that my paintings are not developing as fast as I wish they would. I’m soon going to run-out of Ultramarine Blue, which is something I have made a priority in my list of to-buy art supplies. I ran into a few problems with this depanneur painting. The first coat turned out to be too oily in some spots – Going against the “Fat on lean” rule [...] |
